Web application development

Hi all,

We are at the moment working on big web application project for a big client. It is one of the most complicated developments we ever did. To manage the project efficiently we are using a dedicated project manager that coordinates between the developers and the client.

But before we even write one line of code we need to understand exactly what the client wants. This can be trick. Most of the time the client has a clear vision of what he wants to achieve, but they didn’t think on the small details.

This is where we need to put all our expertise and try to think of any possible scenario. Sometime it is boring stuff like ‘what happens when you click on this button?’ and sometime is more conceptual questions like ‘what kind of control do you want to have on this section?’

The more details we get the quicker the development process will be. On the other hand if we will not get this step right, it will cost to the client time and money. We had a client that wanted a website. But they didn’t think about what they really need from the website. So it was on going learning process. They tell us some bits, we do them, only to discover that now they need more things and so on and so on. This is not the way we like to work. It took us almost 8 months to develop a website that normally we will do in a month time. We just waited to their answers.

We can’t do it for clients. We don’t know what they want. We can help and suggests idea but only the client knows what they need.

So don’t skip on this step :)

Have a nice weekend,
